Welcome to our Journey to MaryRose!

We are the Perez Family - Jose and Brenda living in the beautiful state of Georgia.  We have two great biological children - Alex, our 19 year old son, and Drew, our precious 11 year old.  In addition to our sons, Brenda's parents, Tom & Sue, live in an in-law apartment in our home.  We are blessed to have a wonderful family, home and church.

In October of 2005, we began to feel the call to adopt a daughter.  Please read "Our Story" for the story of how the Lord placed this decision on our hearts.

We would be so happy for you to follow us during our adoption of our daughter from China.  As with all things from the Lord, it's going to be a great blessing and adventure!

06/07/09 Currently the wait time to receive a referral of a healthy child from China is about 38+ months, and expected to continue to increase.  This time frame is subject to change from month-to-month depending on many factors in China.  The official date we began our count-down was March 24, 2006.  This means we have now been waiting 38 months, and we are getting very close to a referral.  We anticipate receiving our referral anytime between July - Sept 2009.  At the time we started this process, the wait time was about 9-10 months.  So, we have experienced a huge increase in the length of time it is taking families to receive their referrals, but we are nearing the end of the race and it is getting very exciting.

It's a good thing that God only reveals His plans to us one step at a time, because if we had known of this wait time, we might have been afraid to answer His call.  But, as things always go, God's plan is perfect.  So we wait for our referral, surprised that it has taken this long, but still marveling at all the things God has done in our lives during this time. 

Once we receive our referral, our travel to China will be about 6-8 weeks later.  We can't wait to go meet our daughter, but we are also excited because we have decided to take our youngest son, Drew, with us.  It will be an awesome experience for him, and he is so excited to meet his sister in China, and to travel to such amazing place. We have been talking to Drew about the adoption for so long that sometimes I think that he may not really believe that it is going to happen.   

As I mentioned, this wait has increased much more than we expected, but God is good and faithful, and we know that we are resting in His plans!  In the meantime, we pray every day for our daughter, and praise God for the joy of our daily lives and all of our blessings.  Daily, we see God's workmanship in our lives, growing our faith, and preparing us for this wonderful event.
